                <abstract>IP engineers still view transceivers as plug &amp; forget - something that just converts electrical to optical signal and vice versa.
This talk provides a concise introduction to essential optical fundamentals for IP networking professionals, covering topics such as single-mode and multi-mode fiber and their structural and operational differences, common connector types and their usage, and a detailed look at optical losses. In particular, it explains how attenuation accumulates across fibers, connectors, and splices, and how to perform optical link calculations and budgeting to ensure sufficient transmission margins. 
The talk also introduces wavelength-division multiplexing technologies&#8212;CWDM and DWDM&#8212;explaining their characteristics, channel spacing, use cases, and relevance in modern packet-optical networks.</abstract>

                <description>BGP data-collection platforms establish BGP sessions with operational routers, gather the routes they advertise, and store them in public databases accessible to everyone. Beyond academic research, this data is extremely valuable for network operators: it powers many of the tools they rely on daily, including BGP looking glasses, hijack-detection systems, AS-ranking services, and more.

bgproutes.io is a new BGP route-collection platform that gathers routing data and makes it publicly available. In addition, it provides a set of public dashboards that help operators monitor Internet routing in a simple and actionable way.
Why did we decide to create a new BGP data-collection platform? How does it differ from RIPE RIS and RouteViews? How can it help both operators and researchers in their day-to-day work? And what are our next steps? These are the questions we aim to answer in this presentation.
A key focus of the talk will be on a feature we believe is both unique and useful: using the BGP Monitoring Protocol (BMP) to collect routing data. While traditional collection platforms rely solely on BGP sessions&#8212;revealing only the best (and already filtered) routes from a single router&#8212;BMP offers much richer visibility. It allows us to collect routes from all peers of a monitored router and observe multiple stages of the BGP decision process (e.g., pre- and post-policy).
We will explain how BMP enables deeper, more comprehensive data collection, how operators can easily connect and contribute their data to the community via BMP, and how all this data can be used for inter-domain monitoring and analysis.

We look forward to engaging with the community to understand how operators perceive this new functionality, whether they find it useful, and how it can be improved. Using BMP to collect BGP data for inter-domain routing monitoring is still relatively new, and we are eager to learn how to apply it most effectively, thus any feedback will be very valuable.</description>

Univerzity &#269;el&#237; rostouc&#237;m n&#225;rok&#367;m na ochranu dat, infrastruktury a slu&#382;eb, p&#345;i&#269;em&#382; financov&#225;n&#237; t&#283;chto aktivit b&#253;v&#225; &#269;asto omezen&#233;. Program Digital Europe nab&#237;z&#237; jedine&#269;nou p&#345;&#237;le&#382;itost z&#237;skat prost&#345;edky na rozvoj a provozn&#237; bezpe&#269;nost, ale orientace v jeho podm&#237;nk&#225;ch nen&#237; v&#382;dy snadn&#225;. V p&#345;edn&#225;&#353;ce proto p&#345;edstav&#237;me c&#237;le programu, jeho strukturu a oblasti podpory, stejn&#283; jako aktu&#225;ln&#237; projektov&#233; v&#253;zvy a podm&#237;nky &#250;&#269;asti v&#269;etn&#283; detail&#367; financov&#225;n&#237;.

                <abstract>In the ever-evolving cybersecurity landscape, the Resilmesh project stands out as a pioneering initiative focused on the holistic protection of critical infrastructures. Rooted in the foundational principle that &#8220;you can&#8217;t secure what you don&#8217;t understand&#8220;, Resilmesh aims to elevate the security and resilience of digital infrastructures through the development of a Security Orchestration and Analytics Platform Architecture (SOAPA) founded on the concept of cybersecurity awareness. In this talk, we will present the Resilmesh project and its results, ranging from academic research to real-world deployments. Moreover, we will present the cascade funding and associated opportunitied in Resilmesh and other Horizon Europe projects.</abstract>

The attendees might be interesting in the cascase funding (&quot;Open Calls&quot;), which are unfortunately already closed for Resilmesh, but are more and more frequently seen at other Horizon projects, and present an opportunity for wide range of organizations (academia or industry) to access state-of-the-art technology.</description>
